When is orthodontic treatment considered successful?
Upon completion of a orthodontic treatment in teenagers a special orthodontist must succeed in the following goals:
- Harmonious positioning of teeth and jaws in a way that the patient can perform all basic functions (breathing, chewing, swallowing, speaking).
- Enable the patient through the harmonious positioning of teeth to perform daily oral hygiene in order to reduce tooth and gum problems in the future.
- Facilitate the general dentist in any future dental proceedings like fillings, bridges and periodontal treatment.
- Beautiful smile and pleasant face that will boost the person’s self- confidence.
Requirements for a successful orthodontic treatment
Success in orthodontic treatment requires an orthodontist and a consistent patient. During the treatment, the patient must faithfully follow the orthodontist's instructions for the use of orthodontic appliances, to keep his appointments and to take care of perfect oral hygiene. Only in this way is the goal of treatment achieved in the shortest possible time. As for the duration of treatment, it varies from a few months to two years, depending on the nature and severity of the problem.
